FAQs

Discover everything you need to know before joining one of Ana María’s Avignon walking tours. From meeting points and schedules to what to expect along the way, these answers will help you prepare for an unforgettable experience filled with history, legends, and local charm.

  • Where do the tours start and end?

Our meeting point is the beautiful Place Crillon, right next to the Carrefour Express supermarket. It’s a convenient spot with nearby cafés, restaurants, and public restrooms. From here, we have immediate access to the Pont d’Avignon, as well as stunning views of the Rhone River and the historic center of the city.

  • How long does the walking tour last, and how much walking is involved?

The tour lasts approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how much time we spend inside churches and sightseeing. The walking distance is about 3 kilometers, mostly on flat terrain, with the only exception being the stairs to access the Cathedral Notre-Dame des Doms.

  • What languages are the tours offered in?

For now my tour is available in English and in Spanish.

  • Do you provide hearing devices to help us hear better?

Yes! Every participant receives a hearing device to stay connected throughout the tour. You’re welcome to bring your own earpiece with a 3.5mm plug, or I can provide one for you to use during the tour.

  • What should I bring or wear for the tour?

Bring a bottle of water, staying hydrated is important even during the winter.

Keep in mind you will be spending about two hours outdoors so remember to check the Weather Forecast and wear weather appropriate clothing.

Comfortable shoes are essential to enjoy not only this tour but your day in the city.

  • Are the tours suitable for people with disabilities?

I strive to make my tours as accessible as possible. Most of the walking is on flat streets, but some areas, such as the stairs to the Cathedral Notre-Dame des Doms, may be challenging. In these cases, you are welcome to stay in the plaza and follow the tour using your hearing device.

  • Are the tours suitable for children?

Babies usually nap comfortably during the tour. For young children, it can be helpful to bring snacks or small toys to keep them entertained. Older children and teenagers generally enjoy the experience as long as they stay engaged with the stories and sights.

  • Can I join without booking in advance, or do I need a reservation?

Please make a reservation if you can. If you’re unable to book in advance, just get in touch with me by email, WhatsApp, or the contact form so I can plan for your participation.

  • Can I bring my pet with me?

Yes! You’re welcome to bring your dog, cat, rabbit, or other small pet, as long as they don’t disturb other guests and stay outside during visits to churches.

  • Where can I park when visiting Avignon?

Yes! You can park for free at the Ile Piot parking area, which also offers a shuttle service to our meeting point. Alternatively, there is paid parking right outside Place Crillon in the Allées de l’Oulle or elsewhere inside the walls using the metered parking spots (horodateurs).

  • Will this tour include visits inside the Palace of the Popes, museums, or the Bridge of Avignon?

No, the tour includes visits to two churches (subject to opening hours, as some may be closed on certain days, like Mondays). We will view the Palace of the Popes and the Bridge of Avignon from the outside, and I will share their facts and history as part of the tour.

  • Do you offer private or customized tours?

Yes! Please click the contact button below and send me a message so we can arrange a private or customized tour for you and your group.

  • What happens if it rains?

Rain is rare in Avignon, but if it does happen, the tour will still go ahead. I recommend bringing an umbrella or raincoat so you can enjoy the experience comfortably, rain or shine!

  • Will the tour be cancelled if not enough bookings are received?

I do my best to never cancel a tour. However, if there are only one or two bookings, I may contact you to offer an alternative schedule with more participants to ensure the best experience.
